Does Margot Robbie have tattoos?
Margot Robbie's portrayal of Barbie perfectly captures the essence of the beloved doll while adding a modern touch to the character. However, while she shows no sign of body art throughout the film, Robbie actually has four tattoos herself and has even given the art of tattooing a go on numerous occasions.
"Skwad" tattoo
Before her role as the protagonist in the new Barbie film, Robbie perhaps became most well-known for her performances in "Wolf of Wall Street" and "Suicide Squad".
It was during the 2016 filming of the latter where she carried out her very own "Skwad" (an intentional misspelling) tattoo on the inside of her left foot. However, she didn't stop there. In fact, she gave multiple "Skwad" tattoos to a number of the crew and cast members with her 'personal tattoo gun'. We hope they had some good tattoo aftercare on hand!
As far as we know, she's not given any of her fellow cast members tattoos while on the Barbie set!
Toe emoji tattoo
Margot Robbie and her Suicide Squad co-star Cara Delevigne also took their friendship to the next level by getting matching tattoos. Their matching ink comes in the form of a smiley emoji face that sits on the underside of Margot's big toe and the bottom of Delevigne's middle toe.
The simple 'toemoji' design features crosses for eyes and a smiling face with tongue sticking out.
Delevigne also added additional smiley face emojis to the bottom of the rest of her toes on her right foot.
Anchor tattoo
Robbie has a tiny anchor design just above her heel on her left ankle. The anchor motif often symbolises hope and security, while also serving as an aesthetic symbol in its own right.
Does Ryan Gosling have tattoos?
As we all know by now, Ryan Gosling takes on the role of Ken and brings immense Kenergy to the new Barbie movie. However, does Ryan Gosling have tattoos? The answer is yes.
Botched forearm tattoo
Ryan Gosling has a small tattoo on his left forearm up near his elbow. It appears to be a cactus tattoo, but Gosling has admitted that the design was originally meant to be a monster hand dropping a heart. The dodgy artwork is actually a result of Gosling creating the botched homemade tattoo himself!
Barcode tattoo
Gosling also gave himself another tattoo in permanent ink on the inside of his left wrist. The black strip is arguably a slightly more effective design than the one seen on Gosling's left forearm. Nonetheless, he does cover it over regularly with a watch. It's a good job Gosling believes tattoos should be more fun rather than deep and meaningful!
Ghost and skeleton outline tattoo
Another one of Gosling's known tattoos is on the inside of his left bicep. This design is an outline of a woman ghost posing alongside a skeleton on the ground.

'The Giving Tree' tattoo
Gosling has artwork from the cover of the book 'The Giving Tree' on his left shoulder, the ink paying homage to his childhood.
"Esme" tattoo
When his daughter Esmeralda was born, Gosling was spotted with finger tattoos on his left hand. The design that ran over each of his knuckles was a tattoo dedicated to his daughter 'Esme'. However, it was unclear whether it had just been drawn on in biro or was in fact permanent tattoo ink.
Conclusion
The cast of the Barbie movie bring a unique edge to their characters - both on and off-screen. Margot Robbie's tattoos show off her artistic side and fun personality, while Ryan Gosling's public tattoos capture his great sense of humour.
It's clear that both actors have a special connection to their body ink and it's fascinating to explore the stories behind each design. We look forward to hearing if any further memorable tattoo designs will come from the Barbie movie cast!
