Last October saw the release of the much anticipated Joker movie, which grossed $93.5 over it's release weekend. Directed byTod Phillips who was responsible for The Hangover trilogy, Joker depicts the downfall of Arthur Fleck, an amateur stand-up comedian suffering from mental illness who goes on to lead a life of crime. Fuelled by the damaging incidents that Arthur experiences in life, and the realisation that society has turned its back on him, he eventually materialises as the Joker. It's a sad film in many ways, and it really makes you empathise with Arthur, to the point where you find yourself really rooting for him (despite the fact that he becomes a serial murderer).
