For centuries people have been using body piercings as a way of adorning their bodies to mark rites of passage, achievements or tribal affiliations. Becoming increasingly popular in the western world, people nowadays use piercings for a variety of reasons. Whether to demonstrate affiliation with a group, as a reminder of a life event or simply as a means of self-expression, body piercings can make a bold statement.

Piercing requires the skin to be literally pierced or punctured with a hollow needle. An item of body jewellery is inserted into the piercing to prevent it from closing up, and to enhance the area. Because the skin is broken and a foreign object is inserted into the wound it is particularly important to maintain the highest standards of hygiene throughout the process.

From eyebrows to navels and from tongues to genitals, piercings can be done on many different parts of the body with great success. One thing they all have in common is a requirement for strict hygiene controls both during and after the procedure. Piercing aftercare instructions should be carried out to ensure that healing takes place without interruption.

At Magnum Tattoo Supplies we only stock piercing products which meet the highest standards of quality and hygiene. As you would expect from two decades of supplying some of the UK's top tattoo artists we know our market inside out.
