A tattoo is a permanent adornment to the body; making sure that it is created using the best quality tattoo inks is essential in getting a piece of artwork which looks good for decades. In essence, a tattoo ink is just a mixture of a pigment with a carrying liquid, which is safe and tested to be inserted into the skin for the desired effects. Historically, pigments were made by crushing minerals or black carbon to a fine powder before diluting to a paste or liquid. Today's pigmentation is much more scientific, taking into consideration the possibility for allergies and the importance of sterility. Inks created for the tattoo market must be resistant to the effects of light and age whilst also being suitable for skin contact and easy to use.
