There’s a cute and cuddly figure who tends to surface around Christmas time in the tattoo world, and it isn’t Santa Claus… Say hello to Krampus, the half goat – half demon companion to Saint Nick. Working as Santa’s rather brutal counterpart, Krampus punishes children who have misbehaved throughout the year, in contrast to Santa Claus who rewards good little girls and boys.

As with many dark and demonic folklore characters, Krampus is another one who seems to feature frequently in the tattoo world, and it seems like the tattoo community can’t get enough of a good old fashioned fable with a dark and dingy side! This nightmarish hooved figure with his ghoulish skin is often depicted to be kidnapping the badly behaved children, who will hopefully never misbehave again after encountering the wrath of the demon Krampus.
