What food should you eat during the tattoo healing process? 0

I recently read an article about the best foods to after you get a tattoo.  It’s not something I’d ever put too much thought into, and I hadn’t really considered the Science behind it, pre- any of my tattoos.  From the first couple of tattoo experiences I had, I quickly decided that it was best to arm myself with a bottle of Lucozade during the tattoo process (even though I absolutely hate it), and before any new tattoos, I’d try and eat a big meal, something carby and substantial, or if I didn’t have time for this, then I’d at least go and buy a bar of chocolate to ensure I had enough sugar in me to get through the tattoo (although I think this is more of a comfort thing!).  So making sure I didn’t get tattooed on an empty stomach seemed like a logical thing for me to do, but I hadn’t ever considered what I should be eating after being tattooed, and until now, I never knew the importance of eating the right kind of foods, post-tattoo.

Love Island's Jess and Dom get Matching Tattoos | Tattoo Healing Cream 0

The popular TV show Love Island's contestants Jess and Dom have gone and got matching tattoos after knowing each other for only two months. Now, this is the kind of story that peaked my interest as I've spoken about getting your partners name on you before but what about getting a matching tattoo with your other half? Is it better or worse? Here at MTS, we sell tattoo healing cream but we also like to ask these kinds of questions so let's talk about it.

Do you really want to hurt me? | Wholesale Tattoo Needles 0

As I have said I am currently in the middle of getting an Edgar Allan Poe chest piece, it started with one of the most painful tattoos I have ever gotten, a portrait of the poet himself. I got this on the right side of my chest and 6 months later I added another tattoo of a ship in the same place but on the left side and it barely hurt at all. Tattoos hurt, that’s just a fact of life and the pain of a tattoo can be weirdly addictive, but sometimes it can just be unbearable. Why was the portrait so much more painful for me than the ship? Well, there are little things you can do that significantly reduce how painful your tattoo is to endure and that’s what I’m going to talk about today because here at MTS we sell wholesale tattoo needles and we want to make sure that those needles inflict as little pain as possible. Saying this it is important to note that we all have different levels of pain tolerance and a tattoo will never be completely pain-free unless you are under local or general anaesthetic but that’s just not common practice, so let's see what we can do to help ourselves.

Places Where Tattoos Hurt Most 0

Rule of thumb is, the thinner the skin, the more it hurts. Having said that, pain is temporary, but tattoos are forever.

Before getting a tattoo, you should have already accepted the fact that the process will hurt, especially if it is your first time. This might be one of the reasons why people don’t get a tattoo. But don’t let that fear hinder you from expressing yourself with body art. Once you set your mind to it and prepare for the tattooing process you'll find that your body has the ability to withstand the pain under most circumstances. It is really important to be extra sure of your decision, you have to make sure that it is really what you want.

Being informed is important. Below are five spots where placing a tattoo hurts the most.

Behind the Ear

Knowing the area around the ear having thin and delicate skin is an obvious cause that this tattoo placement is going to hurt a lot more. This area is very sensitive since it does not have much fat. However, don't let that stop you from inking an easy to conceal design. Whether it be a single phrase or an insect tattoo, your tattoo artist can help numb the anticipated pain with a specialised cream. It may be of minimal help, but hey, at least it helps.

Chest

Chest tattoos are a popular choice for both men and women. Either way, most chest piece tattoos are going to be painful unless you have lots of body fat or muscle. If you're skinny or of small frame, be prepared to endure a little more for your Old School swallow tattoo.

Ribs

Getting tattooed on the rib cage is considered one of the most painful spots to get inked. Due to each person’s unique size, shape and natural curves, rib cage tattoos can also be more challenging for tattoo artists.  However, the rib cage offers a beautiful spread of canvass. The thin skin, however, across the ribs can cause quite a bit of a challenge for those being tattooed. You may find starting small and then gradually adding to a side rib cage design is the best way to test the waters first.

Ankle

When you get a tattoo made on your ankle, you can feel the reverberations and the friction of the needle throughout your feet. It won’t feel like tickling, it is pain; real pain. Even a small tattoo could hurt so much, since there is nothing but bone in your ankle. Delicate as they may seem, ankles pull their weight as one of the hurtful spots to ink regardless of their size.

Foot

A lot may testify that getting a foot tattoo is the least option a tattoo artist may give you since it gives uneven and poor healing results, not to mention the pain that comes with this placement. The feet and toes are all about bones. When you are getting a tattoo done on your feet, the needle will hit the bones and it will most definitely hurt a lot. The foot has a small distribution of body fat so you'll feel much more of the process. But that doesn't mean a dragon character or a minimal feather won't always look gorgeous, so have at it if you must.

How to take care of Foot Tattoos 0

Some tattoo artists refuse to do a hand or foot tattoo because these equate to a difficult healing process. Before considering a foot tattoo, you might want to think of any extra care needed to provide a faster healing process. Bear in mind foot tattoos are rumoured to be one of the most painful spots to tattoo, so by all means reconsider this tattoo placement if it's your first ink.

Despite the difficulties associated with this type of tattoo, the feet make for a very interesting place for a piece of body art. They are perfect if you want a tattoo on a more discreet part of your body. One of their main advantages is that they can be covered up on a whim by changing your footwear.

The feet can be a very painful placement because they are mostly bone with little tissue. Always work on one foot at a time during the tattoo process. If you have several ideas in mind, let your artist know and schedule the next appointment after your first foot tattoo has properly healed.

A lot of people have foot designs that complement one another. An example is having a moon on one foot, a star on the other; or perhaps flowers on both with stalks reaching up to your ankles. These complementary designs are one of the many reasons why foot tattoos are worth the pain—they are truly creative. There won't be shortage of awesome ideas for foot tattoos.

Know the different foot tattoo aftercare tips and decide if it’s really the tattoo placement you want. Decide if having a foot tattoo is fit for your lifestyle, then find a professional to do it. Below are some of the aftercare reminders you need to know.

  • Obviously, you are not allowed to wear socks or shoes for the first several days after your foot tattoo. If you must, the footwear must be very loose so that it doesn't rub against your new tattoo.
  • Hydration is crucial in the body's healing process. For foot and ankle tattoos, you'll want to prevent the swelling that is often common in these areas. Before and after your tattoo session, make sure you drink a minimum of eight glasses of water per day to help your skin recover and to prevent uncomfortable bloating.
  • After having that awesome foot tattoo, you may want to show it off, but you have to slow down. Give your body a break and plan on resting for 24-48 hours. Even better if you can chill out and elevate your foot to remove the pressure. This means book your appointment when you won't be working or attending school. The more you stay off your feet the faster this area will heal.
  • Whatever you do, prevent standing for long periods of time because this might lead to general discomfort. You can only return to your normal lifestyle after several days of resting.

Foot tattoos never go out of style. This is why this trend continues to be one of the most popular, yet painful, kind of tattoo. If you're considering a foot design, make sure you're prepared to make a few lifestyle adjustments. Keep in mind that it’s only temporary, this way your skin can heal properly.
